Killifish U.K. two day event. September 16th & 17th 2023

I can confirm that the above event, often now referred to as our “two dayer” is going ahead.

The venue is the same as our recent one day auction, the Royal British Legion Club, 211 World’s End Lane Quinton, Birmingham, B32 2RX, U.K.

With the prospect of no BKA weekend convention this year, a few of us long time members got our heads together to see what we could do to stage a weekend get together.
These have taken place since the start of the 1980s, so we were loath for this annual event to stop.

Killifish U.K. are very fortunate to be able to use the above British Legion premises at no direct cost. What does happen is the daily entrance fees and 10% sellers
premium from the auctions, is a direct donation in it’s entirety to the Legions Poppy appeal.

As the Legion is not a Hotel we have had to locate a suitable Hotel providing overnight stays and good hospitality.

Our suggestion is the Premier Inn at Oldbury, junction 2 off the M5. It’s some 4 miles from the auction venue, but once you have returned there at the end of the
days proceedings, the hospitality is there for you to relax and enjoy.

I’m sure many of you have stayed at a Premier Inn, so will be aware of what they offer. They invariably have a restaurant and bar attached to the hotel, often a Beefeater restaurant.

People who decide to make a weekend of it and stay overnight, can of course make their own choice of where to stay. However, as we consider socialising is a big part of the weekend, it would be beneficial to have people staying in the same hotel where possible.

SO, we hope that many of you will want to come along to our “2dayer” either as day visitors or go the whole hog and make a weekend of it.

Can I suggest that if you intend to stay over you look at the Premier Inn website for the Oldbury Hotel. You will then be able to see the room charges and facilities available.
Birmingham Oldbury (M5, Jct2) Hotels | Premier Inn

The programme of events during the weekend is in the early stages of discussion, but we will of course keep you informed of things as they are agreed upon.

Our Killifish U.K. weekend will be different to the usual format used for BKA conventions.
There will be no show fish or Saturday night banquet. We aim to be different with a weekend that sees plenty of auctioning of fish, including wild caught fish brought
in for the event. We are looking into some talks by some U.K. based breeders.
Hopefully we can set the scene for plenty of socialising in an unhurried and relaxing environment.

Thank you
Killifish U.K. admin team.
